Spring reset for your gut – what actually helps (and what’s nonsense)

Spring has a funny way of making us want to “reset” everything. Clean out the wardrobes and cupboards. Get on top of life admin. Take up new exercise routines because the weather is getting nicer.

And inevitably… lots of people want to “spring clean” their guts.

If you’ve been Googling “gut cleanse”, “detox”, or wondering whether you need to survive on green juice for 72 hours - let’s pause.

Because your gut doesn’t need punishment. It needs support.

Here’s what actually helps (and what’s mostly nonsense).

❌ The nonsense

Extreme detoxes
Your liver and kidneys already detox for you. Anything claiming to “eliminate toxins” is far more likely to lighten your wallet than transform your gut.

Starving your symptoms away
Cutting more and more foods might feel like control, but long term restriction can make your microbiome less diverse - and that’s rarely the goal.

Overnight transformations
If your gut has been unsettled for months (or years), it won’t “reset” in 3 days. Slow and steady wins here.

Our advice: Making a series of good gut choices, builds foundations for better gut health.

✅ What actually helps

1. Fibre (the unglamorous hero)
Most people in the UK aren’t eating enough. Fibre feeds your gut bacteria and supports regular, comfortable bowel movements. Increase it gradually — and hydrate properly alongside it.

We should be aiming for 30 plant points every week - this means a variety of plants - vegetables. Legumes, fruit, nuts and herbs. This maximises gut microbiome diversity, which is linked to better immune function and health.

2. Hydration (more important than you think)
If you’re constipated, bloated, or feeling sluggish, look at your fluid intake. Your bowel needs water to keep things moving. Electrolytes can help if you’re stressed, exercising, travelling or simply running on empty.

3. Consistency over intensity
A daily routine beats a dramatic cleanse. Consistently taking your Gut Wealth supplements - to make an easy daily good gut choice.

Regular meals. Decent sleep. Some movement. Managing stress. Boring? Yes. Effective? Also yes.

De-stressing and properly switching off, even for short periods, can do wonders for your gut function, because a calmer nervous system almost always means a calmer digestive system.

4. Listening to patterns
Spring reset doesn’t mean ignoring symptoms. It means noticing them.
When do you bloat?
What makes mornings easier?
What throws you off?

Choose gut data over gut drama!

Get to know your gut

If you’re living with irritable guts, you don’t need another extreme. You need calm, steady support. And a series of daily good gut choices, making small daily investments in your health. Health is wealth after all!

Spring isn’t about starting again from scratch. It’s about adjusting what’s already there and

Less punishment.
More nourishment.
More trust in your gut.

And as always - I’ll keep learning and sharing what the science actually says, not what the trends shout the loudest.

Here’s to lighter mornings and happier guts,

Gemma
